Journal 4-4-14

1 Peter 2:1-3 – “So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and slander – like newborn infants long for the spiritual milk, that by it you might grow up into salvation – If indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good”

God is really speaking to me or wants me to speak to somebody that is reading these posts. So pay attention and listen. God is persistent and He will have His way. He wants obedience and His words to be heard. Check this out – on 4-2-14 I wrote on 1 Peter 2:8-11. Please take time to read it. It is long and important. It speaks on being a chosen race, a royal priesthood…He called us out of darkness into light…we were not a chosen people but now we are…keep your conduct honorable…glorify God with your actions. Well, one week prior while sitting in church God spoke to me while a pastor was teaching and I was reading 1 Peter. God wanted me to raise my hand and read 1 Peter 8-13. I chickened out. Well, last night a lady from Africa came to teach (1 week later) and taught on 1 Peter chapter 2.
Now here is the weird part. This morning when I got back from breakfast and got my coffee ready, I went to sit down at my desk to start my quiet time and the wind had blown through my window and opened a book on my desk to a page I had never read before. It’s a book I just started reading and is brand new. It is still stiff like new books are and by all rights the book should not have been open to the page that it was because it was not broken in. Nevertheless, it was open and guess what page it was open too? Page 29. Let me give you the scriptures that were quoted on that page: 2 Corinthians 3:18 – “Christ in me is my hope of being more glorious. The Spirit of God is transforming me daily, little by little. My life has purpose. God has a plan for me.” Romans 4:17 – “I have made you a Father of many nations – In the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.” And last but not least 1 Peter 2:9 – “…you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God’s own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Do you guys think that is God or just a coincidence? 1 Peter 2:4-5 says “As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men (who reading this has felt rejected? Zarria, Angela?) but in the sight of God chosen and precious. You yourselves are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” Having a poor self-image is darkness. Disliking yourself is darkness. Thinking you have no value or worth is darkness. In Malachi 3:17, we learn we are the Lords special treasures. That we are valuable and we have a purpose. You might say that you are not worthy and that you make mistakes. Well, that is exactly what Satan wants us to think, but God has a great plan for our lives, as He did Paul’s. We have a spot in this world to claim because He created us and like it says in Genesis “God made man and He said that it was good.” If we believe in God, we must believe that everything God has done is good. In 1 Peter 2:8, it says we stumble because that is what we were destined to do. God already knew we weren’t going to be perfect. That is why He chose us to do His work because “He is made perfect in our weakness” and that is what He wants people to see.
“Do not remember the former things, neither consider the things of old, behold I am doing a new thing now it springs forth: do you not perceive it, and will you not submit to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19. So if you are wallering around in a pit of hell, a miserable spot in your life, call out to God, turn from sin. You don’t have to live in fear or disappointment and with rejection any more… Isaiah 40:31 says “Those who wait for the Lord shall change and renew their strength and power, they shall lift their wings and mount up as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” So don’t look back but embrace your savior. You have a destiny to fulfill. “Be strong and do it.”

Prayer
Father God, please let these words reach and influence the people who you want to receive them. Your will be done Lord. Amen.

Thoughts:
I am really not capable of talking this way. It is the Holy Spirit working in my life this morning that allows me to come up with this stuff. Praise God for your gifts in life and face the future with confidence that God has your back! Love you guys
