It
is amazing to me how Satan makes the most normal everyday things bait for
hooking us and reeling us in. Again this morning I’m looking at pictures and
searching my heart to find ways to appeal to my children and my girlfriend the
importance of having the Holy Spirit with us all the time. Most people get up
in the morning and go about their daily affairs with normal, healthy things
that push God to the back burner. I simply want to impart to them that putting
God on the back burner is not a good idea. He should be the first thing on our
mind when we get up in the morning. Spending time with the Lord, if done
properly, can be so rewarding that it will make you mad when you are unable to
find that special time to spend with Him. I hope and pray that for each of the
special people in my life, you will learn that spending time with God daily can
be just like eating. When you go without it you “hunger for it.” The more you
feed yourself the hungrier you get when you don’t get that time with Him.
God has spoken to me lately and He is
changing my life daily. It’s really refreshing. I have always been the guy who
likes to see results. Sometimes I feel dry and like maybe all this posting I’m
doing isn’t getting through to the people that I want it to. Not too often is
it that I hear what is going on. All the inmates seem to like reading them and
the other day a lady sent me a card from Seneca Missouri and looks like her
whole family signed it. It was an “encouragement” card. So I know people are
reading and the work of my hands is getting to the hearts of people somewhere.
I have always loved what I do, but the
one thing I’ve found that I love more than building or electrical work is
leading or encouraging people to Christ. It’s the most amazing job I’ve ever
had. I would like for all of my children to get on board with their dad and
start trying to win souls to Christ! In order to do this we must polish our
skills each day. Finding time to spend with the Lord will polish us up so we
can be an example to people we meet everywhere. Have you ever wanted to know
the will of God? John 6:40 says “For this the will of my Father, that everyone
who looks on the son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will
raise him up on the last day.” – spoken by Jesus. Also, He said “I am the
living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will
live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my
flesh” (v. 51). So guys, it is important that we develop a relationship quickly
with Christ so we can begin to influence and lead our friends and family to the
truth. John 8:31 says “If you abide in my word (the Bible), you are truly my
disciples (His messengers) and you will know the truth and the truth will set
you free." We don’t want to let any of our friends and family slip through the
cracks. It’s our job to recruit people to Christ and in order to do that
effectively we must read, pray, turn from sin, and surround ourselves with
people doing the same. We must get to know Jesus Christ on a personal level so
that we have the tools we need to be effective for His purpose! Please try to
make it a priority in your life to “know Jesus” and let’s go to work together
each day for Him and see how many people’s lives we can change together with
His help. I need you to get on board with your dad because I’ll be much more
effective with you than without!
Prayer: Father
God, I pray that my loved ones will see that you are real and that you have
come to save the world. I pray that they see the importance of “knowing you” so
that when the time comes for us to share your story we can do that and you can
add one more name to that book you keep so high in the sky!
Thoughts: I know a lot
of people are wondering what will happen when I get out. Let me help you, I’m
going to be a man of God, in pursuit of His purpose for my life and if I have
any say in it, my kids will too. And me and Hunter are going fishin.
