Journal 3-20-14

Deuteronomy 9:23 – And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying go up and take possession of the land that I have given you, then you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God and did not believe Him or His voice. You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day I knew you.
2 Kings 18:5-7 – He trusted in the Lord…he held fast to the Lord…he did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the Lord commanded Moses. And the Lord was with him, wherever he went out, he prospered…

“You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day I knew you.” Those words jumped off the page this morning and are still ringing in my ear. He is right, I have been rebellious against the Lord from the day I knew Him. For 42 years I’ve done it my way, not listening to what is right. I am wondering why some people naturally are obedient to Him and some are not. Why do some rebel and some don’t? I suppose it may go as far back as Cane and Abel. A generational curse or something and I just got the bad seed. There are a lot of stories in the Bible. Some tell how people eventually turned from sin and God used them, was with them, and wherever they went out they prospered (2 Kings) and there are other stories that are not so “prosperous”.
I guess that if we read, pray, and listen for God on a regular basis He will reveal to us all His glory. He has the power to get us out of the places we have wandered to. I feel that He is glad to do that for us, but we have to take the first step. The rewards that God has for us are much greater than those that we will find on our own. I promise.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can look forward to the future no matter what my circumstances are right now.

Thoughts: I never gave much attention to what God wanted me to do for Him. I was mostly concerned with what God needed to do for me. Wonder if that would make a difference?
